Los Angeles – Tuesday, October 10, 2002 – The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE), a worldwide networking organization comprised of investors and entrepreneurs from the U.S. and India, has named economic futurist Dr. Ravi Batra, independent filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor, and global businessman and newly-elected Indian Parliament member Dr. Vijay Mallya as the keynote speakers for TieCon 2002. "Revisiting Entrepreneurship" is the theme of the annual conference of TiE's Southern California chapters, taking place in Costa Mesa, Calif., on Saturday, October 26 (www.tie-sc.org).

"We are thrilled to be featuring such diverse and prestigious speakers as Nagesh Kukonoor, as well as Drs. Batra and Mallya, who are ideal for highlighting this year's important topic," said Sanjay Sabnani, Executive Committee member for TiE Southern California. "TiECon 2002 will focus on a number of issues facing today's entrepreneur in this tough economy, from reviewing strategies and re-evaluating objectives to smart investing techniques. We are looking forward to hearing from Dr. Batra and Dr. Mallya regarding where they see the economy headed, as well as their recommendations for investing and running a business over the next ten years. Nagesh will provide us a fresh perspective on breaking into the world's most prolific film marketplace as a newcomer."

Dr. Ravi Batra, a professor of economics at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, is the author of five international bestsellers including "The Great Depression of 1990" and "The Downfall of Capitalism and Communism." He was the chairman of his department from 1977 to 1980. In October 1978, Batra was ranked third in a group of 46 "superstar economists" selected from all the American and Canadian universities by the learned journal Economic Inquiry.

Dr. Vijay Mallya, 44, a noted entrepreneur and philanthropist, is Chairman of the UB Group and Chairman of other companies such as Hoechst Marion Roussel in India, Mendocino Brewing Corporation in California and UBICS Inc. in Pittsburgh. Since taking the helm of the UB Group, Dr. Mallya has markedly expanded the company's global reach, and is responsible for growing the Company to over $1.5 billion in revenues.
